
“tricot” is a Japanese alternative rock band formed on Sep 1, 2010. The band develops unpredictable and thrilling compositions that consists of harmonization of emotional yet delicate vocals with complex rhythms. Outside of Japan, their music is often categorized into Math Rock while the members are not familiar with it. With outstanding and overwhelming live performances, the band quickly became to appear at major music festivals across Japan and embark on numerous tours throughout Asia, Europe, and North America.
In December 2013, the British music magazine NME featured the band in their magazine, and their songs were repeatedly played on BBC radio in the UK. In April 2014, they were selected by Rolling Stone as one of the “10 New Artists You Need to Know.” In July of the same year, they performed as the opening act for Pixies at a 6,000-capacity venue in the UK.
On November 15, 2017, drummer Yusuke Yoshida joined the band. In 2019, after years of operating under their own independent label BAKURETSU RECORDS, they established 8902 RECORDS under “avex/cutting edge”, one of the domestic major record companies. Between 2020 and 2022, they released four albums through this label. In 2021, they performed on the White Stage at Fuji Rock Festival.
After the covid-19 era and they re-started international shows, the band has continued to perform extensively both in Japan and overseas including tours in Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, the UK (13 cities), and China (4 cities). In 2025, celebrating the 15th anniversary, they held three headliner shows in Tokyo : “YAKUBARAI” on February 24, “GOKURAKU JODO” on September 1, and “MANEKI CLUB” on September 30.
In February 2026, they held “Room Service”, their first-ever performance at Billboard Live.
